Job profile of a MTS ( Multitasking Staff ) selected through SSC

Recently, Staff Selection Selection ( SSC ) have recently invited application for an exam called ‘ MTS Exam ‘ . This exam is conducted by SSC every year ( almost ) to select candidates for the post of MTS ( Multi Tasking Staff ) in various central and state government departments .


I am here to describe duties of this job; And let me clear one thing that this is not a post of clerk . Yes, An ‘MTS’ person do clerical work too but actually it’s like one rank down from a clerk post . They do a lot of other tasks than that of a clerk or data entry operator ( DEO ) which is completely a computer job .

However you may understand it by it’s name , ‘ Multitasking Staff ‘ ; A person who is performing multiple tasks .

 

Duties of An MTS

The duties of an MTS is different in different departments/officers but  here I am describing some common tasks :-

  • To maintain the records of the office .
  • General cleaning, arranging of files .
  • Photocopying, making sets, stapling, spiral bindings, sending of FAX etc.
  • To physically maintain the office ( open the doors, windows, machinery and security incharging )
  • Driving, Receipting, Mailing etc.
  • Any kind of work assigned by superior authority.

Promotion Options Available for a MTS

You can be promoted up to a officer rank but it all depends upon your performance and activeness . The same promotions rules are liable as of any other central government employee . Educational qualification, Special skills & experience are some main factors for the promotion .

A Quick Promotion ( Limited Departmental Examination )

There is exam, A limited departmental exam, only for MTS people; Fight in this test and you will promoted to a post of clerks in the same department . The exam is also conducted by Staff Selection Commission ( SSC ) every year .

Net Salary of a MTS

It also depends upon various factors and the most important factor is your experience . A fresher will get around 10,000 INR/pm in any central government department .
