Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test ( K-TET ) is conducted by the state authorities to select the best candidates for the recruitment of teachers in the state Kerla .  The test actually checks the ability of the candidates to face to challenges in the teaching career; Qualified candidates will be eligible to apply for the post of Lower Primary, Upper Primary and High School Classes in Kerala.

The written examination will be conducted on 25/08/2012 for all the above three categories of teachers,- Lower Primary, Upper Primary and High School Classes . The timing for these tests will be like :-

  • Category 1  –  09:30 am to 11:00 am
  • Category 2  –  12:00 pm to 1.30 pm
  • Category 3  –  03:00 pm to 04:30 pm

Exam Pattern & Syllabus

Category 1 ( Lower Primary Class Teacher )

The written examination duration is of 1.5 hours . There will be three parts in the question paper carrying total 150 marks .

  • Part A   –  Child Development and Pedagogy(relevant to age group 6 – 11), Mathematics, Environmental Studies – 90 marks
  • Part B  –  Language I – Malayalam/Tamil/Kannada  –  30 marks
  • Part C  –  Language II – English/Arabic*  –  30 marks

As this test is for lower primary class teachers so the questions will be based upon syllabus of class 1 to 5

Category 2 ( Upper Primary Class Teacher )

All the questions are compulsory and the test will consist of total 150 marks, must be attained by the candidate with in one and half hour only . Now just take a look at the structure of the examination –

  • Part A   –  Child Development and Pedagogy, Mathematics and Science/ Social Science  – 90 marks
  • Part B  –  Language I – Malayalam/Tamil/Kannada/English  –  30 marks
  • Part C  –  Language II – (Other than language I) Malayalam/English/Arabic/Hindi/Urdu/ Sanskrit –  30 marks

The questions will be based upon the classed of 11 to 14 years child students . Please consider this, you can not choose the same language in Part C exam as of Part B .

Category 3 ( High School Classes Teacher )

The same pattern is here also; There will be one and half hours papers of 150 marks and it includes three parts –

  • Part A   –  Adolescent Psychology, Theories of Learningand Teaching Aptitude  – 40 marks
  • Part B  –  Language I – Malayalam/Tamil/Kannada/English  –  30 marks
  • Part C  –  Subject specific areas (Content & Pedagogy) –  80 marks

Any candidate who will get 60% marks in any of the above three tests, will be declared as ‘ Qualified ‘ i.e. You are pass in K-TET if you get 60% marks . And this is applicable to all categories .

Admit Cards

Admit cards or hall ticket will be available on the official website; Candidate have to login on the website and they will be able to see their admit card online . You may download it and may appear in the examination with a print out of this admit card .

Results

As the examination will taken on OMR sheets so the result will be declared very soon on the official website of Pareeksha Bhavan .

Question Papers

As I have already described the format of the question paper in the ‘ Syllabus ‘ section previously . There will be three parts on the question paper of total 150 marks .

  • For Category 1 and Category 2, Question Paper will be available in two languages; English & Malayalam .
  • For Category 3, it is available in English only expect the language part of the sample question paper .
