Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is going to make a recruitment for the post of Lower Division Clerks ( LDC ) and Data Entry Operators ( DEOs ) in various central government departments of India; Actually this recruitment is done through a combined national level open examination called, ” SSC CHSL ( Staff Selection Commission Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination ) ” . As it is clear by name, SSC conducts this examination for 12th pass ( or any other equivalent educational qualification holder ) candidates . This is a very popular examination among all the candidates who want to have a government job just after passing their 12th class; SSC conducts this examination every year in the month of October – November at various examination centers across the country on Sunday .

About 10-15 lakhs students appear for this examination every year but only a few thousand get selected in this examination so  lets us take a look at the details of this examination ( Year – 2012 )

Details about Jobs

The ‘ SSC CHSL’ examination is conducted to recruit candidates in the various Ministries/Deptt. attached, Sub-ordinate offices of Govt. of India for the following two designations –

Lower Division Clerk ( LDC ) – PB1 5200 – 20200 + a grade pay of 1900 rupees

Data Entry Operator ( DEO ) – PB1 5200 – 20200 + a grade pay of 2400 rupees

You can be posted on some other post too but it will be in the same trade & pay scale; For example you may be posted as store clerk, window – clerk etc. in any government organization.

DEOs will be posted in Comptroller & Auditor General of India, Ministry of Agriculture, CVC, CBI or any other government department .

There are two categories of  LDC post

‘ X ‘ Group – Candidates selected in this group will be posted armed forces headquarters, ECI, IB, IFS, CBI and CGA etc.

‘ Y ‘ Group – Candidates of this group  will be posted in sub-ordinate offices of government of India in various states .

Details about Vacancies

The vacancies are will be determined by commission later; As various government departments will issue their vacancies to SSC so it will be seen at the time of nomination process .

Last time in 2011 exam, SSC have selected total 2721 candidates for both the posts; LDC & DEO.

All the vacancies carry AISL; AISL means that a selected candidate can be send at any place in India to work and he/she have to accept it . However most of the ‘ X’ group candidates will be placed in capital of the country, New Delhi . ‘Y’ group selected candidates will be posted in the states according to the preference given by the candidates in their application form .

Nationality

The first condition for this exam is that the candidate should be a Indian; He may be a subject of Nepal and Bhutan too .

Age Limitation

The basic age limitation of the candidate is from 18 to 28 years on the date of notification i.e. if you are between 18 years to 28 years old then you eligible for this exam and you can apply .

Relaxation

Relaxation in upper age limit is available for some reserved categories and some other special candidates such as –

SC/ST – 5 years relaxation

OBC – 3 years relaxation

Physically Handicap – 10 years ( up to 15 years if he/she belongs to reserved categories ) .

Educational Qualification

The basic educational qualification for Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Combined Higher Secondary Level ( CHSL ) exam is 12th or Higher Secondary Class .

Any candidate who is 12th pass or appearing in 12th class or having any equivalent educational qualification, can apply for this exam . The educational qualifications must be from a recognized university or board ; A distance education certificate holder can also apply for this exam .

 Selection Procedure

The selection process is based upon the performance of the candidate in the written examination; Candidates will be shortlisted according to their performance in the written examination and called for skill test ( typing test ) . And the candidates who qualify the skill test, will be nominated in various government departments according to their marks in the written examination .

Note – There shall be no interview in the selection process stages .

Written Examination Pattern for SSC CHSL

The written examination consist of only one test ( Objective type); The written examination of 200 questions carrying 200 marks will be conducted for 2 hours . There will be four parts in the question paper –

1. General Intelligene

2. Numerical Aptitude

3. English Language

4. General Awareness

Each part consist of 50 question carrying 50 marks each .

Note – There will be negative marking in the written examination; For every wrong answer 0.25 marks will be deducted .

You can apply for this exam in two ways; Online & Offline .

How to apply Offline for SSC CHSL

Just download the full application form from the official website of SSC or buy it from a book center and fill it correctly ; Now attach all the necessary attested documents with your application form and send it to your concerned regional SSC office .

Offline Application Fee

You have to pay rupees 100 as a application fee; As you are applying for this exam offline so you have to pay the application fee in form Central Recruitment Fee Stamps (CRFS) which can be obtain from the nearest head/sub-head post office .

Paste the CRF stamp on prescribed space in the application form .

You have to apply online by registering at these websites in two parts –

Part 1 – In this part you have to give your all the information .After submitting all the information, please check it properly as once you clicked on ‘ I agree ‘ ; You can not edit it later . After submitting the information, system will generate a registration number .

Part 2 – In this part you have to upload your photo&sign and pay the application fee .

Just login with your registration number and DOB and complete your application .

Online Application Fee

If you are applying for SSC CHSL exam online then you have to pay the application in the following modes –

  • You can pay the application fee through net banking service of State Bank of India ( SBI ) .
  • You can pay it by debit card of SBI bank .
  • If you can not pay it through any of the above options then you can pay it through a bank challan . This bank challan will be  printed out from the online portal ssc where you are applying for this exam; Now just rush to your nearest SBI bank and pay your application fee .

Call letter / Admit Card / Hall ticket

The admit cards will be send to the candidates by post if any candidate does not receives his/her call letter, he/she may download it from the official website of SSC . The admit cards will be available on official websites of regional centers of SSC which are following –

Results

Results will be declared at the ‘ Official result page ‘ of Staff selection commission ; The schedule is -
  • Written exam result will be declared in December .
  • Skill test result will be declared in March .
  • Final Result will be declared in April – May .
However there may be a little change in the schedule given on this website .

How to get Success in this exam ( SSC CHSL )

  • Just be determined about your aim and your aim is ‘ SSC CHSL ‘ . Always motivate yourself and be confident . It will help you to concentrate in your study .
  • So you have studies two chapters of G.K. ; Now revise them and it will make you confident and you do not have to read it again .
  • Keep practicing your maths and reasoning questions regularly, do not just read day and night for 3 days and then off for 10 days . It will better for you if you practice 2 hours a day in Maths .
  • Take care of your health too; Take fruits and vegetables . And have a sufficient sleep of 7-8 hours .
  • Do not forget to paste chart in your room about syallbus, schme and pattern of written examination .

Quick Tips for the candidates who are going to give this Exams

  • First of all confirm that you have taken all the necessary documents wiith you such as admit card/hall ticket, 4 photograph, identity proof and original application slip .
  • Just be on time; Do not rush all the way, it will disturb you . Reach the examination hall 30 minutes before .
  • Do not just open and write; Read the paper quickly and carefully and then start to attempt the questions . If any question is taking too long then just leave and concentrate on some easy questions as all the questions are of same marks .
  • Just be relax, follow the instruction and start in healthy way . Do not worry, be confident; the exam is conducted every year .
  • Believe in yourself, never see what others are doing, you will get disturbed and nothing . Concentrate on your paper properly .
  • It will be better for you if you go for toilet and drink water before your exam as there is no break and you will get about half a minute for one question

Q. When the original documents will be examined ?

A. The original documents will be verified at the time of skill test/typing test ; Candidate must have the required educational qualification as on 01/08/2012 . You may be examined at the time of joining too .

Q. What is the age relaxation available for Ex-serviceman ?

A. You must  be retired with in 3 years for general categories and the value is 6 & 8 years for OBC and SC/ST candidates .

Q. How much vacancies are there this year 2012?

A. Vacancies will be declared at the time of nomination process ( Final Selection ) .

Q. Where I have to work actually ?

A. You may be posted anywhere in India but most of the candidates will be posted in New Delhi . In other words ‘ X ‘ group selected candidates will be posted in New Delhi and ‘ Y ‘ group selected candidates will be posted in various states .

Q. How much salary I will get after selection ?

A. The salary may be counted as 15000/- to 20000/- + allowances for LDC & DEO . A DEO will get about 1500/- more in respect to a LDC .

Q. Can I change my examination center ?

A. No, you can not change your examination center . Once you submitted your application; You can not change it . So I advise all the candidates to select your examination center very carefully; Choose your nearest one .

Q. Which is better job, LDC or DEO ?

A. The salary of the DEO is higher then a LDC so I will suggest you to go for DEO .

Q. When we will receive our call letter for written examination ?

A. The call letter / admit card will be sent to the candidate in the first week of October; You have always a option to download a duplicate call letter from the regional offices’s website of SSC.

Q. When the result of written examination will be declared ?

A. The result will be declared in the month of December .
